Position Title: Administrative Assistant
Location(s): Reston, VA; Springfield, VA; Bethesda, MD; Washington, D.C.
Position Description:
Provides day to day advisory support to NGA officials typically at the Directorate or other top level offices. Applies judgment and initiative to determine the approach or action to take in both routine and non-routine situations. Interprets and adapts guidelines, including unwritten policies, precedents and practices which are not always completely applicable to changing situations. Duties include or are comparable to the following:
- Works with a degree of independence and significant feedback from upper management regarding methodology to be used in accomplishing objectives and establishing milestones and schedule with a wide latitude for independent judgment regarding the resolution of administrative management problems.
- Serves as the organization's Administrative Officer and advisor to management. This position provides authority and responsibility for a wide range of administrative management activities and provides a focal point of coordination, consolidation, review, information and guidance concerning administrative activities.
- Plans, coordinates and reviews all administrative management activities for the organization. These functions include training, travel budgets, suspense systems, space planning, personnel management, record management, and logistics support.
- Develop guidance, procedures and or policies relative to administrative management of an organization.
- Provide the organization with effective, efficient and consistent administrative management activities and provides personnel with a centralized source of expertise and directions, which ultimately affects the success of the mission.
- Participate in discussions regarding the organization's operation and contribute advice and guidance in areas of expertise to the decision making and planning process. Advises top management on the administrative management implications of additions, deletions, or changes to the varied functions of the organization.
- Personal contacts are made regularly with management and administrative personnel within NGA.
- Maintain office calendars.
