Strategy and Strategic Planning

GRS takes a bottom line approach to strategy. We believe that a company’s goals and objectives should lead toward one outcome: improved performance. Our results-driven approach allows GRS to stay focused on the fundamentals that will most benefit the organization. We don’t not get caught up in the latest consulting craze or chasing revenues at the expense of profits. We view acquisitions and mergers skeptically until there is a reasonable, proven case for a positive value outcome.

GRS begins by being highly informed. We carefully analyze past performance and management against market and industry trends. We isolate determinants for the success of market leaders and identify new trends that will own the market. We study the management team’s perspective, experience, and capabilities. In short, GRS looks at all the factors in order to leverage the potential drivers and mitigate detractors that can lead to rapidly improved performance.

Enterprise Strategy

GRS takes an execution-driven perspective to enterprise strategy. We’ve seen too many strategies that are abstract from the company’s reality, make false working assumptions or possess a skewed view of the operating environment. We look at the organization’s optimal capabilities and lay out a concrete roadmap to getting there. Our strategies are realistic, designed to stretch management, workforce and operational capabilities, and ultimately, drive towards aggressive returns for investors.

Business Unit Strategy

GRS believes that an enterprise strategy without a specific business unit objectives and alignment will seriously undermine the organization’s ability to execute effectively. The two must be built together and integrated from the start. As part of the strategy process, we work with line managers to understand their capabilities and requirements to execute on aggressive goals. We determine the fundamental strengths and weaknesses in the organization. And we assess the optimal outcome potential given the business realities.
